DEMOCRATIC PARLIAMENT
It could be reasonably argued that democracy is at the heart of National Security. But for the moment we will isolate it from our core trilogy of National Security policies.
However, for as long as the Australian parliamentary system remains undemocratic, our nation will never be truly secure. For this reason the Federal Party of Australia has paid particular attention to ensuring - for the first time in our nation's political history - that democracy underpins the Austalian Parliament.
In this Critical Policy 7, Democratic Parliament, a Federal Party of Australia government would introduce the following reforms:
Electoral Offences (Both Houses)
- Winning Office by False Statement
- Eliminating Fraudulent Voting
- Reducing Informal Votes |
- Advantages of OPV |
- Advantages of Fixed Term Elections |
- Advantages of Four Year Term Elections |
- Optional Preferential Voting (OPV) |
- Randomised Ballot Papers |
- Optional Preferential Voting (OPV) |
Lower House) |
- Abolition of half Senate elections |
